Plumber (Hampton/Newport News) Position Detail: Full Time Hourly:
Compensation is commensurate with experience. FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday – Friday, additional hours may be
required upon approval Reports to: Construction Supervisor General
Description: The Plumber will be responsible for the installation,
repair, and maintenance of domestic water systems, water heating
systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm water systems, gas piping
(both threaded and fusion welded), while following recognized
procedures and specifications of the International Plumbing Code
(IPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). The Plumber will be
responsible for the proper use and maintenance of hand and power
tools such as sewer snakes, vacuum plungers, acetylene torches,
soldering and welding equipment, sewer cameras, pipe locators, and
other plumbing equipment. Qualifications Working knowledge of
various plumbing systems, equipment, and the specifications related
to the International Plumbing Code (IPC), Uniform Plumbing Code
(UPC), and local plumbing codes. Must have a minimum of 5 years of
experience working as a service plumber. Candidate must be eligible
to obtain a Journeyman’s Plumbing license within 12 months of hire.
Considerable knowledge of standard tools, methods, and materials of
drain cleaning and plumbing trade. Must have a wide variety of
appropriate hand and trade-related tools. Self-starter with the
ability to work as a team, as well as independently in the field.
Perform manual labor in both indoor and outdoor environments in
various conditions. Physical requirements of the position include,
but are not limited to, standing, lifting, and carrying a minimum
of 50lbs unassisted, crawling, climbing ladders, kneeling, bending,
etc. Ability to schedule, manage time efficiently, and meet project
deadlines. Comfortable with operating computers, software, and
online ordering platforms. A valid driver’s license is required.
Requires frequent travel between properties, including overnight
travel, as needed. Responsibilities Repairing, maintaining, and
installing various plumbing systems and fixtures in all types of
structures (mostly multifamily residential). Coordinating with
project managers and other construction professionals on a jobsite.
Reading building plans and installing according to design
specifications. Following current rules and regulations related to
plumbing codes, OSHA, and Company policies. Keeping and maintaining
records of time spent on a job and materials purchased for the
work. Estimating time and costs for project bidding. Responding to
plumbing emergencies, including after hours as needed. Performing
regular maintenance of plumbing systems. Assisting maintenance team
members as needed. Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
