thrive in school and daily life. We’re seeking an Education Support
Specialist who is passionate about supporting families, educators,
and students through high?impact educational services and
resources. Job Duties “Telework is limited in accordance with the
Commonwealth’s telework policy.” The Division of Services will
provide a quality program of individualized rehabilitation
services, educational consultation, technical assistance, and
instruction that will empower eligible individuals to achieve their
desired levels of independence consistent with their abilities and
informed choices. We are seeking an Education Support Specialist to
assist the Education Services program to ensure that Virginia's
infants, toddlers, and children who are blind, vision impaired or
deafblind receive the services and materials that they need in
order to participate and progress in developmental, educational,
and extracurricular activities. Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience: Experience working with students in an
educational setting. Experience in working with professionals
inputting and analyzing data. Successfully complete Virginia’s
Early Intervention Module Regarding the Overview Mission and Key
Principles of Early Intervention and receives the Early
Intervention Certificate for this Module. (The module will be
completed within the first six months of employment.) Demonstrated
knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
and the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Demonstrated
knowledge of adapted materials and equipment for students with
visual impairments, blindness and deaf blindness. Demonstrated
knowledge of resources available for families and teachers of
students with visual impairments, blindness and deaf blindness.
Demonstrated knowledge of Education visual impairment guidelines
and the role of Teachers of the Visually Impaired and collaboration
with Education Coordinators. Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability
to use AWARE to update student information, run reports, and assist
Education Coordinators with cases in inactive status in the AWARE
system. Demonstrated ability to provide resources and information
to parents, teachers of the visually impaired, school systems and
vendors as they relate to students with visual impairments,
blindness or deaf blindness. Demonstrated ability to work
independently and within a team environment, develop collaborative
relationships with teachers, Education Coordinators, and families.
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and plan work, manage
time effectively, and communicate effectively with Education
Coordinators. teachers and parents. Weekly contact and meetings
with Teachers of the Visually Impaired and Families to assist with
updating information in the AWARE system Other duties and/or
special projects as assigned. Completes duties and/or projects as
needed or directed by supervisor. Additional Considerations: N/A
