We are seeking an experienced and passionate Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team. Summary of Role

Join our dynamic surgical team as a first assistant, where you'll play a crucial role in operative and invasive procedures. Essential Duties:

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Review patient health data relevant to the operative or invasive procedure (e.g., history and physical).
Assist in surgeries by:
Using instruments, retractors, suction, and sponging techniques.
Handling and dissecting tissues.
Clamping and ligating vessels, coagulating bleeding points.
Placing drains and suturing muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin as directed by the surgeon.
Serve as a resource to peers and colleagues.
Maintain regulatory, credentialing, and privileging requirements.
Participate in ongoing education and competency verification.
Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health information.

Requirements:

Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification
Licensure to practice in the State of Virginia
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
At least two years of perioperative services experience, with a preference for orthopedic and total joint procedures.
