Job Description:

Experience: Minimum 2 years of PACU/Preop experience or 2 years of
ICU experience required License: Current license to practice as a
Registered Nurse in the state/district is required Certifications:
PALS, NIHSS, BLS & ACLS required; CPAN highly desirable Must-Have:
Candidates must possess the ability to think critically and work
independently. Description: Must live 100 miles away. Day shift
positions consist of 3 x 12 hour shifts. On-call required for
Saturdays from 7 PM to 7 AM and Sundays from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM
to 7 AM. Candidates should have both PREOP and PACU experience.
PREOP shifts start at 5:30 AM or 6 AM. PACU shifts begin at 7 AM
and continue every hour until 11 AM (e.g., 7 AM – 7:30 PM, 7:30 AM
– 8 PM, 9 AM – 9:30 PM, 10 AM – 10:30 PM, etc.). Recent PACU/Preop
experience required. Not a surgical center as the complexity of
patients seen differs from a level I trauma center.
Responsibilities include monitoring post-operative patients' levels
of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia and providing updates
to the medical team as needed. Candidates will obtain and record
patients' vital signs. Candidates will observe patients for signs
of side effects of anesthesia medication. Treatment of pain,
nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia and
administering medication as prescribed is expected. Charting (EMR),
patient files, and medical records must be updated. Educating
patients and their families on post-surgery care and answering any
questions is necessary.
