conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate development
and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled
persons. The VMRC Therapy team has recently transitioned from a
contracted team to in-house. We are currently seeking an
Occupational Therapist to help complete our therapy team. As a
vital team member, you will have the opportunity to support
residents in meeting their therapy goals and improving their
quality of life. Job Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an
accredited therapy program Experience: 2-3 years of related
experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
(preferred). Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational
Therapist state license; CPR certification Requirements: 1. Works
effectively to comply with policies of all VMRC areas. Works
collaboratively with team members to meet resident needs across the
VMRC campus. 2. Effectively works with other members of the VMRC
team to provide in-service’s and education to meet individual
resident/patient needs according to standard, regulations, gaps in
service delivery and initiatives. 3. Completes scheduled screenings
for SL and AL. 4. Address patient’s aspects of performance to
support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being
and life quality. 5. Select and adapt the appropriate per case
occupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to direct
the process of interventions. 6. Apply interventions to maximize
safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and
instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). 7. Teach patients
new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down
activities into achievable components. 8. Assess patients’ home and
other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their
needs and capabilities. 9. Recommend adaptive equipment and train
in its use. 10. Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
11. Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term
treatment goals. 12. Collect data and document processes followed.
13. Documents patient care services according to approved medical
documentation and facility documentation procedures.
