• Employment Type: Locum tenens Physician Assistant
• Start Date: August 26, 2026
• End Date: November 25, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,900 - $4,620
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour nights
• Schedule: 24-hour coverage Monday through Friday, with night call and 24-hour weekend call
• Shifts Per Week: Varies based on coverage needs
• Patient Mix: 100% adult
• Inpatient/Outpatient: 75% inpatient, 25% outpatient
• Weekend Rounds: Yes
• EMR: EPIC
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90-120 days

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant clinical setting preferred
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Training or experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery required
• Active Virginia Physician Assistant license required
• Active DEA required
• Hospital privileges required
• Ability to work nights and weekends as part of the surgical coverage schedule
• Comfortable managing adult inpatient surgical patients

• Provide locum tenens coverage for the Cardiothoracic Surgery service
• Support inpatient and outpatient care for adult cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Participate in weekend rounds and ongoing patient management
• Assist with night call and 24-hour weekend call coverage
• Collaborate with the cardiothoracic surgery team to ensure continuity of care
• Evaluate and manage patients seen on rounds, typically 5-10 patients
• Document care accurately in EPIC EMR and follow established clinical workflows
• Contribute to a smooth transition of care during scheduled coverage periods
