work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times
in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects
have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large
populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact
to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a
Global Safety & Security Intern to join the 2026 Fall Internship
class. The Global Safety & Security team oversees the safety and
security of IJM personnel and clients worldwide. Although tasks
vary depending on the nature of the work in progress during the
internship, Global Safety & Security interns can expect their tasks
to include: Compiling daily briefs for senior leaders based on open
source news sites which summarize key current events around the
world that could impact IJM’s operations; Assisting in coordinating
course logistics for specialized safety and security trainings;
Researching and preparing memoranda regarding threat assessments
and crisis response plans; Tracking and reporting on security
developments in regions of the world where IJM has offices;
Completing research assignments assigned by Director of Global
Safety & Security to provide in-depth reports of latest safety and
security threats to IJM's work; Assist in tracking the Field
Offices' compliance with IJM Security Manual policies and
procedures through check-ins with Field Office security personnel
Assisting with the management of IJM’s crisis response system; and
Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative
support. This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite
Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for
non-local candidates. It reports to the Coordinator, Global Safety
& Security. The position requires 30-40 hours per week. As
volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help
defray their expenses related to participating in the internship
program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages
paid for services provided by the intern or fellow. Fall internship
program dates are September 14 – December 11, 2026. Application

either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a
